Withdrawal Policy

The Journal of Carcinogenesis Research (JCR) enforces a clear and stringent withdrawal policy to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity throughout the publication process. Authors are urged to consider the consequences carefully before submitting a withdrawal request.

1. Submission of Withdrawal Requests

A formal withdrawal request must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author to the Editor-in-Chief via the author’s registered email address. The request must include the following:

  • Article title
  • Full names of all contributing authors
  • Manuscript ID (if available)
  • A clear and specific reason for requesting withdrawal

2. Consideration of Withdrawal Requests

Each withdrawal request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account:

  • The stage of the editorial and peer review process
  • The rationale provided by the authors
  • The potential academic and procedural implications for the journal

3. Conditions for Withdrawal

  • Before Acceptance:
Authors may withdraw manuscripts without penalty before formal acceptance. However, multiple withdrawals without justified reasons may result in limitations on future submissions to the journal.
  • After Acceptance but Before Publication:
Withdrawal at this stage is discouraged and will be considered only under exceptional circumstances, such as the identification of ethical concerns or significant scientific errors. If approved, a formal withdrawal notice may be issued by the editorial office.
  • After Publication:
Withdrawal is not permitted once an article has been published. In cases involving research misconduct, plagiarism, or critical post-publication errors, the article may be subject to retraction, with a clearly labeled retraction notice published in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

4. Ethical Considerations and Consequences

  • Withdrawal requests for already cited articles will not be entertained unless due to verified ethical misconduct.
  • Authors who withdraw manuscripts after acceptance without valid justification may face blacklisting from future submissions to JCR.
  • Withdrawal due to conflicts with institutional or funding body policies must be supported with documentary evidence.
  • JCR adheres to COPE’s best practices in managing manuscript withdrawal, retraction, and author responsibilities. For more, refer to COPE Guidelines.

Important: Authors are strongly encouraged to consult with their institutional review boards, academic advisors, or research supervisors prior to initiating a withdrawal request to avoid reputational and academic consequences.
